I'd love to see a comparison review of all of 15" laptops with the 970M...

Gigabyte's build quality and support are garbage and I am writing this on a P34G.

Do any of these support HDMI 2.0?

You keep asking this question in all the related topics and nobody who is competent answers it. Strangely enough. Maybe this silence means there is some product marketing involved there. Then, I would assume pessimistically that the answer is "no" for laptops - maybe HDMI 2.0 only on desktop Maxwells GTX 980/970 this time...

The most likely answer is, no, laptops will not support hdmi 2.0, because even if Maxwell were able to, Intel hd gpus that share the hdmi ports on laptops via optimus are not capable of hdmi 2.0. As such this is unlikely to be a laptop feature for any dGPU until either Intel or AMD makes an iGPU that can do hdmi 2.0.

That's a reasonable technical explanation; this is very probably the case indeed.
Another potential option to completely turn off iGPU at the factory and use ONLY Maxwell dGPU (not to share HDMI port) to get HDMI 2.0 - won't be implemented, I suppose, since it is believed, that iGPU makes sense there (and it does sometimes, indeed, in terms of battery life and Intel Quick Sync, maybe). Laptops are inherently full of compromises...

I think I'll wait for Asus' G series laptop. Which brands are good alternatives to that? (for a good price).

Anyone know when Alienware are refreshing their lineup? The 18 would be insane with dual 980s...
